The Hidden Side of Things

25 Chapters, split into 5 sections; Introductory; How we are Influenced; How we Influence Ourselves; How we Influence Others; and, Conclusion. 'The term 'occultism' is one which has been much misunderstood. In the mind of the ignorant it was, even recently, synonymous with magic, and its students were supposed to be practitioners of the black art, veiled in flowing robes of scarlet covered with cabalistic signs, sitting amidst uncanny surroundings with a black cat as a familiar, compounding unholy decoctions by the aid of satanic evocations.'

How Theosophy Came to Me

My first touch with anything that could definitely be called Theosophy was in the year 504 b.c., when I had the wonderful honour and pleasure of visiting the great philosopher Pythagoras. I had taken birth in one of the families of the Eupatridæ at Athens—a family in fairly good circumstances and offering favourable opportunities for progress. This visit was the most important event in my youth, and it came about in this manner.

A Textbook Of Theosophy

We often speak of Theosophy as not in itself a religion, but the truth which lies behind all religions alike. That is so; yet, from another point of view, we may surely say that it is at once a philosophy, a religion and a science. It is a philosophy, because it puts plainly before us an explanation of the scheme of evolution of both the souls and the bodies contained in our solar system. It is a religion in so far as, having shown us the course of ordinary evolution, it also puts before us and advises a method of shortening that course, so that by conscious effort we may progress more directly towards the goal.

Clairvoyance

This is a Theosophical manual of the phenomena of Clairvoyance, the mental viewing of things far removed in space and/or time. Leadbeater appeals to the fourth dimension, the Akashic record, and the assistance of unseen spirits, as explanations of the phenomena. Students of the occult will find this a satisfying review. Chapters include, Clairvoyance In Time: The Past, Clairvoyance In Space: Unintentional, Simple Clairvoyance: Full, What Clairvoyance Is, and Methods Of Development.
